Jiang Ning moved all the medicinal herbs prepared by the Fourth Prince to Physician Xue's residence.
As expected of the Fourth Prince; he managed to find many of the rare herbs on the list that aren't even available on the market.
Xue Xiu opened the door to greet them, and her eyes widened in shock when she saw a cart full of medicinal herbs.
"Miss Jiang, what is all this?"
Jiang Ning had Yu Er move the herbs inside, then replied calmly, "I've taken on a big job."
"Don't touch any of these herbs; I need them to prepare a prescription," Jiang Ning said after thinking for a moment, adding a reminder. "Once the medicine is prepared, you are free to use whatever is left over."
These are the medicinal herbs the Fourth Prince sent. It wouldn't seem appropriate to let people use them freely before the Fourth Prince himself has been cured.
"Don't worry, Miss Jiang, I won't touch them." Xue Xiu shook her head; even if she were allowed to use them, she wouldn't dare use such high-quality herbs, afraid of wasting such precious items.
When would her medical skill ever reach Miss Jiang’s level…
Could it be that she truly has no talent for medicine?
Xue Xiu lowered her gaze, a desolate expression showing on her face.
Jiang Ning directed Yu Er to place the baskets of herbs in the room. She immediately rolled up her sleeves and began preparing the medicinal materials; some needed to be processed as soon as possible to maximize their effectiveness.
Xue Xiu walked over and said, "Miss Jiang, let me help you."
"Alright."
Jiang Ning didn't refuse; having Xue Xiu help out meant the medicinal herbs could be processed faster.
She had faith in Xue Xiu's abilities; Xue Xiu was a meticulous woman who could handle things very well.
The two of them worked busily for most of the day, and managed to process the majority of the herbs.
Xue Xiu felt aches and pains in her waist and back; she had never processed so many medicinal herbs all at once before, and her hands felt numb.
Jiang Ning smiled and said, "Thank you for your hard work. I'll take care of the rest; you should head back and get some rest."
Xue Xiu saw that Jiang Ning's expression was completely normal and her movements were still nimble. Feeling a pang of frustration, she shook her head and said, "No, there are still a lot of herbs left. I'll keep helping."
Xue Xiu picked up the cutting knife, pressed down hard, and cried out in surprise.
"Ah!"
"What happened?" Jiang Ning turned around and saw Xue Xiu's hand was injured and bleeding. She immediately grabbed some wound medicine and gauze, walked over, and bandaged Xue Xiu's hand.
Xue Xiu felt utterly mortified. She had clearly intended to help Miss Jiang, but instead, she had just caused more trouble.
"I'm so sorry, Miss Jiang, I..."
"Thank you, Ah Xiu. Because of your help, I was able to process the herbs this quickly, even though it ended up getting you hurt," Jiang Ning said, genuinely grateful.
Xue Xiu lightly bit her lip, unable to speak. She didn't want to lose to Miss Jiang and had insisted on processing the herbs, which led to her injury. Yet, Miss Jiang was gently bandaging her hand regardless.
She felt utterly mortified and ashamed.
After Jiang Ning finished processing the remaining herbs and tidying everything up, she let out a long sigh of relief.
Xue Xiu sat on the side, looking down at her injured hand.
"By the way, a richly dressed woman might come looking for me. If she does, send a message to the Marquis's residence immediately to notify me," Jiang Ning said.
Xue Xiu nodded her head.
..........
The very next day, the Crown Princess's carriage arrived.
Xiu Zhu lifted the curtain and glanced at the remote alley, frowning slightly. "Crown Princess, we've arrived. But do you really want that girl to take your pulse?"
“Of course.”
The crown princess cast a faint glance, then withdrew her gaze.
She had underestimated that woman's medical skills; a single pill was surprisingly more effective than the imperial physician's prenatal medicine. If she could get that woman to help regulate her health, she was certain she could successfully give birth to a child.
"Let's go."
"Yes, this servant will help you over." Xiu Zhu helped the Crown Princess alight from the carriage and they walked into the alley.
They arrived in front of Physician Xue's residence.
The servant walked over and knocked on the door.
The door opened quickly. Xue Xiu was slightly stunned by the person standing outside—a woman who was graceful and luxurious, dressed in obviously valuable clothes. She immediately concluded this was the person Miss Jiang had mentioned.
Xiu Zhu looked over and realized this didn't seem to be the young lady who was supposed to treat the Crown Princess.
Xue Xiu said, "Please come in, you're here to see Miss Jiang, aren't you? Miss Jiang will be here shortly."
"Miss Jiang?"
The young lady with medical expertise actually has the surname Jiang.
Xiu Zhu helped the Crown Princess walk inside, and Xue Xiu immediately sent a messenger with word to the Marquis's residence.
Upon receiving the message, Jiang Ning didn't delay and immediately took a carriage to Physician Xue's residence.
The Crown Princess looked at Jiang Ning, somewhat excited. "Miss Jiang, it's thanks to you that my child was saved yesterday... If I may ask, what medicine did you give me to take?"
"That was medicine to replenish your energy and blood."
"Is that so? I've never seen that kind of peculiar medicine before. Does Miss Jiang happen to have any prenatal medicine here?"
Prenatal medicine is certainly available, but Jiang Ning didn't dare casually prescribe medicine for the Crown Princess to use.
In the unlikely event that something unexpected happens to the Crown Princess's fetus, all the blame would fall squarely on her.
She shook her head. "I don't have any prenatal medicine ready, but I do have a prescription here. Madam can consult other physicians, and only decide whether to take this medicine after they have reviewed it."
"After all, everyone's physical constitution is different; a prescription isn't necessarily suitable for every single person."
Jiang Ning completely absolved herself of responsibility. She provided a prescription and asked the Crown Princess to have the imperial physicians review it before using the medicine. This way, in the unlikely event of any accident, the fault wouldn't lie with her.
The Crown Princess nodded slightly, not saying anything further.
Jiang Ning wrote down the prescription and handed it to the Crown Princess.
The Crown Princess accepted the prescription. "Many thanks, Miss."
"After such a long carriage ride, I am feeling a bit tired. I wonder if I might rest here for a bit before we leave?" The Crown Princess's gaze flickered; besides coming to see Miss Jiang for a consultation today, she still had one other matter to attend to.
Jiang Ning replied, "Of course you can."
Jiang Ning found a place for the Crown Princess to rest and served her some tea.
She had just walked out when she overheard the Crown Princess instructing her personal maid, "Go to the Hua Ya Garden and inquire about..."
Jiang Ning's eyes darkened. She hadn't guessed wrong; the Crown Princess intended to go to the Hua Ya Garden to gather information about the women around the Crown Prince.
Recently, the Crown Prince had been spending a lot of time with Jiang Meng Yue, frequently leaving the palace and sometimes staying out all night. This sparked jealousy in the Crown Princess, who felt certain that some vixen was seducing the Crown Prince.
Jiang Ning immediately walked out and instructed Yu Er to go stake out the entrance of the Hua Ya Garden. She told him Jiang Meng Yue's location and ordered him to act according to the situation.
Yu Er nodded his head. "Don't worry, Miss, I can certainly handle this small matter properly!"
This is nothing—he’s someone who has handled great matters before.
Yu Er rushed to the Hua Ya Garden ahead of everyone else.
Soon after, Xiu Zhu walked out of the residence, her footsteps hurried as she left.
The Crown Princess took a sip of tea in the room, her hand tightening around the cup, her gaze turning cold. "I want to see exactly which vixen I am dealing with!"
Today, the Crown Prince left early in the morning again without even sparing her a glance. Recently, he has even been neglecting the child in her belly.
Could some woman on the outside possibly be better than his own flesh and blood? She is carrying the Crown Prince's child, after all!
The Crown Princess slammed the teacup down heavily, and angrily let out a cold snort.
